Heddon Bush Enrolment Scheme
The Ministry of Education has required Heddon Bush School to establish an enrolment zone to prevent over crowding at the school. Pupils who live within this zone are entitled to enrol at Heddon Bush School.
Parents of students who do not live within the enrolment zone may apply in writing to enrol their children at Heddon Bush School should vacancies exist. Vacancies for out of zone students will be advertised in The Southland Times.
A ballot may be required in the event that we receive more applications that there are vacancies. If this is the case, pupils will be enrolled with the following order of priority:
- Siblings of current students
- Siblings of former students
- Children of board employees
- All other students

Beginning at intersection of Bayswater and Gladfield Roads, head across country to Forde Road. Head again cross country to 379 Oreti Plains Road. From there, the boundary heads to 568 Ryan Road and again cross country to Crowe Road. Follow Crowe Road to Pike Road. Turn left into Pike Road and follow to the intersection with Harbour Endowment Road. Follow Harbour Endowment Road into Dunearn Road until its intersection with Avondale Road. All of Avondale Road and its side roads are within the proposed “School Zone.”
From the intersection of Avondale Road and State H’way 96, head south along Bayswater Road to the corner of Bayswater Road and Gladfield Road. The area between the true left bank of the Aparima River and the north end of Avondale Rd and the intersection of Bayswater and Gladfield Rd are in the Heddon Bush School Home Zone. Finish.
Enrolling Your Five Year Old
This can be done at any time, but it is helpful for our planning if it occurs sometime around your child’s 4th birthday, if not before.
Children are eligible to start school on their 5th birthday. You will need to present your child’s birth certificate or passport, their completed enrolment form (which can be collected from the school office prior to the starting date) and an immunization certificate.
Pre-Entry Visits
We encourage new children and their parents to make pre-entry visits. These occur in the weeks before the pupils are due to start school. If you have any questions about enrolment, or if you wish to arrange a pre-entry visit, please contact us.
